What is Dry Needling!?
Dry needling is based on neuro-anatomy and modern scientific study of the musculoskeletal and neuromuscular systems. It is not acupuncture! (traditional Chinese medicine)
A very fine filament needle is inserted through the skin and into the deeper tissues that are considered trigger points to your pain. Dry needling works by causing a micro lesion within the pathological tissue thus breaking up shortened tissues, inhibiting a reflex arc from the nervous system to the tissue, normalizing the inflammatory response, and centrally mediating the pain.
This mechanical and neuromuscular effect provides an environment that enhances the body’s ability to heal which ultimately reduces pain.
It can help with the follow ailments but is not limited to these:
-Shoulder Pain (impingement & rotator cuff tear)
-Improves mobility and reduces stiffness
-Elbow Pain (golfer’s elbow & tennis elbow)
-Recover from exercise & activity faster
You will leave after your dry needling with less pain and improved mobility. It is possible to feel fatigue after the dry needling session due to the activation of the Parasympathetic Nervous System (relaxed state of the body).
Some soreness may occur localized to the insertion of the need(s).
Dry Needling works to reduce pain, improve sleep, improve energy, and increase your overall function.
